Welcome to Network Business Continuity

Dagda is a deity in Celtic mythology, traditionally known as the 'Good God'. Amongst his magical abilities is the power to raise fallen warriors from the dead. Similarly, Dagda from NBC is a comprehensive migration, backup and recovery application that enables failed servers to be brought back rapidly from a seemingly dead state. And no magic is involved.

Global I.T leaders including IBM, Google & Cisco acknowledge that the I.T industry is using the same carbon footprint / power requirements as the automotive industry and in the near future will equal the airline industry. These same I.T leaders accept that virtualisation technologies deliver practical cost effective solutions to these problems.

With this mind, NBC have developed the Dagda application to facilitate automatic and risk free migration and recovery from physical to virtual machine technologies. Cost savings are dramatic and immediate in the following areas:

  • Reduced capital expenditure by leveraging virtual machines instead of purchasing physical machines;
  • Reduced utility costs such as electricity for both machines and air conditioning;
  • Reduced headcount as server management for virtual machines is simplified;
  • Reduced infrastructure costs such as racks and floor space;
  • Reduced carbon footprints;
  • Reduced operational management of archiving and recovery procedures.
Dagda is implemented on physical or virtual Intel platforms. Virtual platforms currently supported are VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V. Dagda facilitates automatic migration and recovery to and from physical and virtual machines as shown in the illustration below:

The facilities within Dagda extend beyond machine migrations and recovery. Additionally, Dagda automates ongoing replication, backup and archiving (in other words daily I.T “housekeeping” procedures) thereby delivering further cost savings and efficiency gains for small to large organisations.
